Challenges to Pursue (Part 14)

challenges 13

In this blog series I am going through 15 challenges that the late Jim Rohn dared us to pursue in our own lives.

Today we will be talking about the thirteenth challenge Jim Rohn gave us.

Demand Integrity from Yourself

Integrity is like loyalty.  You can’t demand it of someone else; you can only demand it of yourself.  Be the best example of loyalty, and you’ll get some loyal followers.  Be the best example of integrity, and you’ll have people around you who have integrity.  Lead the way.

Integrity is one of the greatest characteristics a person could ever hope to have.  It is something that you can’t fake.   A person’s true level of integrity will always come through in time.

They say one of the greatest gifts we ever receive in this life is our name.  Our level of integrity throughout our lives will determine if we have a good name or a bad name.

Integrity is not something that can be earned quickly.  It is developed slowly over time.  You have to show great integrity day after day and time after time.  If you do that over time, you will be regarded as someone who demonstrates a great amount of integrity.

If you are a person who demonstrates great integrity, you will earn the respect of those around you.  They will trust you and want to follow you.  You will earn a great following in the process.

There are many ways you could define integrity, but simply put, it is doing the right thing.  It is making the right choice.  I would say that integrity is best defined as doing what is right even when it is difficult.  It is not always the easiest or most popular choice, but it is the right choice.  The next logical question is,how do I know if it is the right choice?  Well, we all have an inner voice and a sense of what is right or wrong.  We are born with that.  Even if we did not have an ideal upbringing, we still possess that inside of ourselves.  If we are faced with a choice, we almost always know which decision would be considered the right one.

The question then becomes, will we choose the right one?  If we are willing to make that right choice, no matter what the circumstances are, we are showing a high level of integrity.

There will be times that we do not always make the right choice, and sometimes when we make the wrong one, society will reward us, but making the right choice will almost always have a higher long-term benefit for us.  I like to call it not lowering yourself to the standard that others might have or have for you.

No one can control this for you.  You alone choose the choices that will lead to having integrity or not.  Do you have the integrity to make the right choice even when no one else is looking?  If you don’t, the consequences can be much more devastating than you can possibly imagine.

I would like to challenge each of us to try to always make the right choices in our lives.  Be a person of great integrity.  Make your name a good name.  It is the only name you will ever have.

About wmarsau

Most of the people who visit this blog already know me so it is kind of pointless to try to describe my life in this short little blurb. What is the purpose of this blog is the question. Over the course of this last year I have been exposed to some amazing people and have made personal development an important focus of my life. Being successful, not by the world's standards, but by God's has become my main focus. Mainly, I want to work to develop myself as a person who is kinder, reaches out to help those in need, and truly makes a difference in this world. To this end I am constantly reading and am exposed to so many differnet things along the way. These have been amazing and it is helping me grow so much. Then I started to think, "Why am I being so selfish?" You need to share with others these amazing things you are learning and being exposed to. That is where this blog comes into play. As I am reading and experiencing things that are truly amazing and life changing, I will be posting them on this blog. Obviously, I will not be able to post everything in it's entirity, but I will be summarizing them and letting you know the source of the article or book they come from so you can check them out later if you wish. I want this blog to be a place where you can go to often and be inspired and leave here with a smile on your face. I will be covering all kinds of different topics dealing with success and personal development. Topics like taking action, relationships, living to your potential, reinventing yourself, finances, leadership, presenting, goal setting, time management, etc. I will also be occasionally including topics on cooking, music, and gardening because they are special interests of mine. As a little disclaimer, I have given my life to the Lord and he is #1 in my life. I am his servant and everything I do in life is for his glory. With that being said, religion influences all areas of my life. There will be references to God in this blog because I can't seperate God from this or any other area of my life. I want you to know that if you do not believe in God, that is fine. That is your choice. This blog is open to anyone who wants to better their life. I will not be trying to influence or pressure anyone into having a relationship with the Lord from this site. Please don't feel uncomfortable. You can just read the portions of the blog that you wish to. I am inviting you to go on a journey with me. We will learn together to be the kind of people we were designed to be. Anyone can make a difference in this world, but it starts%
