I have graduated three different times in my life.
The first was in June of 1995 when I graduated from Hudson High School.
The second was in May of 2000 when I graduated in Animal Science from Iowa State University.
The third time was in May of 2004 when I graduated from Vet School at Iowa State University.
Each one has its own set of memories, but I will remember each distinctly like it just happened yesterday. I will carry those three days with me the rest of my life.
For the graduating senior, it can be difficult to enjoy you last semester of college. I would like to encourage you to make the most of your time as you hit the home stretch.
As this season of college graduation is taking place, I would like to leave you with 3 recommendations I have to anyone who is about ready to graduate from college. Consider this a graduation gift from someone who has been there and done that.
If you are like most college students, you’re still trying to finalize plans for after graduation. Take some time this semester to dream big about where you could be after graduation and make a plan for how you are going to get there. As this chapter of your life closes, pause to write the prequel to your next chapter-life after college. The possibilities are endless.
More than likely, dozens of people have helped you get to this point in your life. professors, ministers, parents, family, and friends. Let those people know the impact they made in your life. You might never be able to repay them for everything they have done for you and given you, but you can definitely let them know how much it meant to you.
Soak it Up
With all of the responsibilities, the last semester of college can quickly become a blur. Don’t let it. Be intentional about embracing every moment of your final semester. Enjoy it! College is one of the best times of your life, so take the time to make a few more of those memories that you will never forget.
Sometimes in life we stay so focused on the future and where we will be going next that we forget to enjoy the journey in getting there. The journey is the best part so take the time to enjoy it!
