In this blog series I am going through 15 Challenges that the late Jim Rohn dared us to pursue in our own lives.
Today we will be talking about the second challenge that Jim Rohn gave us.
Face Your Fears
That’s how you conquer them. Don’t dismiss them; face them. Say, “Here’s what I’m afraid of. I wonder what I could do to change that.”
One of the greatest challenges that we will ever face in our lives is facing our own fears. Each of us has our own unique set of fears. Some of us are afraid of heights. Others are terrified of roller coasters. Some are scared of clowns. I even saw a show recently where a woman was absolutely terrified of mayonnaise.
Our own unique set of fears can absolutely debilitate us. They can bring us to our knees. Some people will go to great lengths to avoid their fears at all costs. They find a way to compartmentalize their fears into their own little boxes so they don’t have to deal with them.
The problem is that none of us can reach our full potential as a person unless we are willing to face our fears. Many times, if we can find the courage within ourselves to face our fears, we will find that these things are not nearly as scary as we thought they were. If we can find a way to overcome these fears in our lives, we will find that we are propelled to new heights, heights that we may not have even thought possible.
Often times we will not be able to totally conquer our fears, but if we face them, we can find ways to deal with them so that they don’t seem so bad.
I challenge each of you to look at fears you might have in your lives. Once you identify what those fears are, take steps towards coming to terms with those fears. Find out what you can do to help over come those fears and then do what you need to do. By facing them head-on, you can finally knock them out once and for all.
