One of the toughest battles we will ever wage in our lifetimes is Overcoming the Negative. To overcome the negative, we must wage an intense, lifelong battle against the constant downward pull. If we relax, even for just a little bit, we will find that negativity will start pulling us down again. Down into a place and a state of mind that we really don’t want to be in. If we let negativity pull us down far enough, we will find that negativity has robbed us of everything we value in our lives.
Personal development guru Jim Rohn says that “Humility is a virtue; timidity is a disease.” While it is a good thing to go through this life with humility, being timid is not. When we are timid, we allow the bad things in this life take over our lives. We have to be ready to stand up against things that we know are wrong and do the right thing.
If you spend 5 minutes complaining, you have just wasted 5 minutes. If you continue to complain long enough, you will find that over time it will change you as a person and the change will not be for the positive. The only thing you will be left with is a great sense of regret.
If you have ever had a garden, you will relate to this. If you have one weed in your garden, it won’t do much. One weed will never choke anything out. As we all know though, weeds don’t come one at a time. Weeds come in bunches. If you don’t work at pulling the weeds out of your garden, you will soon find that you have more weeds than crops and your crops will get choked out and not grow. Well think of your mind as a garden and think of negative thoughts as weeds trying to grow in your garden.
You cannot take the mild approach to the weeds in your mental garden. You have got to hate weeds enough to kill them. Weeds are not something you handle; weeds are something you devastate.
Make the decision today, to not let the weeds of negative thoughts grow up in the garden of your mind and choke out all the positive things your mind is capable of.
